Team Profile

The purpose of this publication is to be as impartial, open-minded and accessible as possible. As five young Sikh professionals we work together within an editorial team to represent the young Sikh generation out there. It is our aim to give them a voice. Born and bred in Coventry we hold no political or extreme views. Our independent nature means that we have no ties with Gurdwara committees or membership of any Sikh organisations. Having personally experienced the trials and tribulations that youngsters face in this ever-changing society, we visualise the negative transition that they undergo on the streets, in schools, colleges and universities.

Thus our objective with your help is to make some difference to their lives, to guide them into Sikhi, to show them what being a Sikh is all about. Our approach is not to preach or use strict orthodox methods to achieve this. We are about inviting people to contribute, helping them to gain more knowledge about their religion. It is not our intention to distance youngsters through means of religious mantras. On the contrary, the morals and values that Sikhism represents are important in themselves and they combined with the religious aspect make us who we are.

Sikhism is not just a religion that we follow but also valuable tool which provides us with guidance on how to live and survive in a humane way. It shows us how to sympathise, how to help the fortunate and not so unfortunate and how to live a life that we can all be content with. This newsletter is a starting point and we see it as a foundation upon which we can successfully build on. We would appreciate any feedback, ideas and your opinion on any areas of improvement and topics of interest that should be covered. You can contact us using the contact button at the top of the page

We have spent endless hours of our own time on this project, with numerous personal sacrifices. To take Sikh Way Forward a step further and maximise this medium to its full potential, we need you. With varying projects waiting to be started we need the people to put them into action. We are also keen to hear from organisations or groups hoping to assist the young Sikh community of Coventry. We will strive to provide you with our support in publicising your information.

We will leave you with a final thought. Inspiration is the way forward and the key to success. If you've been inspired by what you have just read then contact us now and see how you can put something back into the community and make a real difference.
