  • Jothi Jot: October 7th, 1708
  • Distinction: He was a great Master Saint-Soldier and a Master Scholar. He fought by word and by sword against injustice, tyranny and superstition. He turned his followers into the brave Khalsa by administering the Holy Amrit. In doing so, he gave the name "Kaur" (Princess) to the female Sikhs and "Singh" (Lion) to the male Sikhs.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, began the great task of collecting all the holy compositions at Sri Ramsar (Amritsar) and compiled the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Sri Guru Gobind Ji passed the final Gur-Gaddi (GuruShip) to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji commanding that it is the Eternal Guru of the Khalsa Panth. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the Light of the Ten Guru's. In the passing over of the GuruShip to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji announced:

  • Agya bhai Akal ki tabhi chalayo Panth Under orders of the immortal being, the Panth was created.
  • Sabh Sikhan ko hukam hai Guru manyo Granth All the Sikhs are enjoined to accept the Granth as their Guru.
  • Guru Granth Ji manyo pargat Guran ki deh Consider the Guru Granth as embodiment of the Gurus.
  • Jo Prabhu ko milbo chahe khoj shabad mein le Those who want to meet God, can find him in its hymns.
  • Raj karega Khalsa aqi rahei na koe The Khalsa shall rule, and its opponents will be no more
  • Khwar hoe sabh milange bache sharan jo hoe. Those separated will unite and all the devotees shall be saved.
  • Waheguru naam jarhaj hai, charohai so uthrai par The name "WaheGuru" is like a ship whose passengers will safely cross the ocean
  • Jo sharda kar savday Guru Par utaran har Those who give selfless services will be assigned by the Guru himself
  • Kanda Jakay hat hai Kalkie sahay sis Our protector is he who is crowned with the plume
  • So hamri rakika kary Guru kalgidar jagdish" And whose hand bears the mighty double-edged sword
